Most learners on the TytchMe Academy are keen bloggers. Many of you are actually quite talented!
Why write blog posts?
First of all, blogging helps you learn about the topic you research. Also, reading other learners’ blog posts also increases your general knowledge of startups and venture capital.
This, in turn, helps you better navigate the entrepreneurship journey – or land a VC job, if that’s what you are after.
How can you write better posts?
In that spirit, we thought we’d provide some guidelines to improve the effectiveness of your posts. This will make them not only more pleasurable to read, but also more visible on the internet. Who knows, you may create a following among startup and VC enthusiasts!
The following advice comes from Yoast SEO, which is the service we use to improve SEO (search engine optimization) on the TytchMe Academy.
What is SEO, and how can I improve my SEO score?
Good SEO scores mean that search engines – mostly Google – will pick up your post more easily. As a result, Google will show it higher in the search result pages.
- Use subheading distribution: organize your paragraphs in sections, with a title
- Keep sentences short: this is a feature most of you have trouble with. Business writing is short and concise. There are good pointers here
- Keep paragraphs short: follows from the two preceding items
- Avoid passive voice: we frankly don’t always agree with this one, but it does improve readability!
- Add variety in consecutive sentences: make sure your sentences don’t start with the same word, at least not consecutively
- Use transition words: there are useful examples in the link
Also, remember to always add a link to add least one source, it will improve your SEO scoring too.

We know the blog posting plugin is quite unwieldy and will resolve it in the coming weeks (it needs extra coding).
