This is the extraordinary – and rare – account of Mike Raab, a mid-level entertainment executive who joined a VC firm based in Palo Alto early 2018.

“I stayed dumbfounded until I realized that these junior VC roles are usually 99% deal-sourcing, or lead-generation roles. Firms rely on junior VCs to “hustle,” “network,” and find “proprietary” deal-flow.”

Although a bit sarcastic, this story gives an insider’s view of how junior members of VC teams spend their (long) working days. And nights.

Wow this is awesome. Like unveiling something you don’t often hear about. I wonder whether his experience is due to the fact that 1/ his VC firm’s culture was more like that and 2/ he didn’t know anything about VC when he joined so got recruited based on his people skills?
